The Living Planet Report 2024 highlights the average change in observed population sizes of 5,495 vertebrate species. It shows a decline of 73% between 1970 and 2020.
Changes in the natural world may appear small and gradual. However, over time, their impacts can trigger a much larger change called a tipping point. Tipping points can be sudden, irreversible, and catastrophic for people and nature.
Can we avoid tipping points?
It’s not too late to bring our world back to life. Though, it will take some big changes. We must tackle the causes of nature’s destruction by transforming our food, energy and finance systems. Greater efforts to conserve and restore nature are also needed.
What needs to change?Nature is our life support system, but right now it’s in trouble. WWF has a unique solution that can help bring our world back to life. We’re urgently calling for a new law at Westminster, the Living Planet Act. Sign the petition now.
